Abstract: The present work is the first reference grammar of Aheli, a dialect of the Lari language. Lari is an endangered language belonging to the South-Western group of Iranian languages. The various dialects of Lari are spoken in the south of Iran (Fars, western Hormozgan and eastern Bushehr) and some Persian Gulf countries. The Aheli dialect is predominantly spoken in the Ahel city, Fars province by nearly 3500 people. Aheli speakers are mainly Muslim Sunnites, and the majority can also speak Persian which is the official language of Iran. Although some research has been carried out on some of the dialects of Lari, there is hardly any research specifically on the Aheli dialect. The data presented in this research is based on fieldwork carried out in Ahel and Dubai (UAE) in early 2018 augmented by the author’s native speaker intuition.
